We will also hold elections for our state delegates to go to 2025 AST Nationals in Orlanda and be the voice of North Carolina during voting for changes with our assembly and profession. It is an amazing time to get involved, attend nationals, network, and become professionally re-energized. Consider being North Carolina's voice at nationals!
Elegibility requirements for Delegates per the AST State Bylaws states that the candidate shall be an active member of the North Carolina State Assembly at the annual business meeting for at least one year.Requirements to run for a Board Position per the AST State Bylaws:
ARTICLE VI
Officers
Section 1. The officers of the State Assembly shall be the following: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Section 2. Eligibility of Officers
- A candidate shall have been an active member of AST for one year immediately preceding nomination and, if elected, shall maintain that active status, and not violate the Professional Code of Conduct.
- A candidate running for the Board of Directors must be physically present at the state assembly business meeting in order to participate in the Candidates Forum and be available to speak to attendees.
- The required curriculum vitae, consent to serve, active membership in the state in which they are running for election, and one year of active membership in AST are the only eligibility criteria that will be considered by the Credentials Committee.
- A candidate for the office of President shall have served at least one full term as a director or officer during the previous six years on the Board of Directors in the state in which they are running for election.
- A candidate for the office of Vice President shall not have served two full terms as President because such a candidate is ineligible to succeed to the office of President.
ARTICLE VIII
State Assembly Board of Directors
Section 1. The State Assembly Board of Directors shall consist of the officers and five other elected Directors.
[Proviso: State Assemblies with 250 active members or less shall consist of the officers and three other elected Directors.]
